The relatively high number of Jews among super-delegates highlights a larger political shift that has occurred in recent decades, according to Forman. Although Jews have always been well represented on the American left, he said, historically they have tended to gravitate toward causes, such as the labor and civil rights movements, rather than active participation in party politics.

It is amazing that a three star general appointed by the US president is physically harassed and denied to do his job by citizens of a country that America has a special relationship with. Until this writing, neither the state department nor the white house have even made a public statement about the incident. IF Washington is silent about the fact that one of its generals whose mission is to monitor the parties commitments is being pushed around by Israelis how can we ever expect this American military envoy or the US government to actually publicly point the finger at the side that is violating the agreement, especially if that side is the Israeli side?

Washington silent on manhandling of US general by Israelis
The American bodyguards of a Bush administration envoy who was dispatched to the region to monitor the implementation of the road map engaged in a violent confrontation with right-wing Israelis who sought to disturb a visit to Hebron on Friday, Israel Radio reported. One of the rightists is reported to have driven his jeep into the convoy accompanying General William Fraser. Subsequently, one of the vehicles in the convoy heavily collided with the jeep, according to Israel Radio. WHILE the Patriot Act has raised fears about government spying on ordinary citizens, the growing threat to civil liberties posed by corporate spying has received much less attention. During the late 1990s, a private security firm spied on Greenpeace and other environmental groups, examining activists’ phone records and even sending undercover agents to infiltrate the groups, according to an article in Mother Jones. In 2006 Hewlett-Packard was caught spying on journalists. In 2006 alone, more than 1.18 million pounds of trash was collected along southern Arizona border, many in the meeting spots where immigrants rest, change clothes and wait to hitch a ride further north with a smuggler.

Specter, R-Pa., was stunned by the situation after touring several prisons in his home state where taxpayer dollars are spent to house foreigners who have served their sentences but could not be deported. In response, he drafted legislation that would punish countries that refuse to take back illegal immigrants.

More than 60 percent of all prisoners are African American, according to a survey of the city jail's population. And of the 282 female prisoners, 67 percent are black.
A similar study in 1996 found that half of the jail population was African American. A 2005 study put the number at 53 percent.
In contrast, 6.7 percent of San Francisco residents are black - a number that has been in steady decline, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
[ Blacks are leaving for some reason while more of those left end up in jail. That is very odd. Perhaps San Franciso is being populated by the more criminal Blacks for some reason. ]

And this rise is occurring not during a period when the public is listing crime as a top concern, as it was in the mid-1990s, but rather during years in which few people list fear of crime as their top concern.

Sharp rise in San Francisco jails' black population
As San Francisco's population of African American residents has decreased in recent years, the population of black men and women locked up in the San Francisco County Jail has increased dramatically, Sheriff Michael Hennessey said.More than 60 percent of all prisoners are African American, according to a survey of the city jail's population. And of the 282 female prisoners, 67 percent are black.
A similar study in 1996 found that half of the jail population was African American. A 2005 study put the number at 53 percent.
In contrast, 6.7 percent of San Francisco residents are black - a number that has been in steady decline, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Ex-Iraq commander accuses Bush Administration of 'gross incompetence'
In a new memoir set to be published May 6, the former commander of US forces in Iraq provides new intimate details of the goings-on at high levels of the Bush Administration in the first year of the Iraq war.His sharp tongued conclusion: "Hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars were unnecessarily spent, and worse yet, too many of our most precious military resource, our American soldiers, were unnecessarily wounded, maimed, and killed as a result. In my mind, this action by the Bush administration amounts to gross incompetence and dereliction of duty."

When I first saw the press release about a "green" Mattel collection of accessories called Barbie BCause, I thought it was an April Fool's joke. Apparently not. Mattel's new "playful and on-trend" collection of hats and bags for young girls will be released "just in time to celebrate Earth Day in style." Which is pretty ironic, really, given that Barbie dolls themselves are made out of plastic and are packaged in even more plastic. And not the kind of plastic you can throw in the recycling bin, either.Barbie™ BCause is a line of accessories for girls made from excess fabric and trimmings from other Barbie products:

The assault on Wayne Munro happened only a few miles from where Martin Olds, the first farmer murdered when Robert Mugabe first unleashed the mobs in 2000, was killed.
Mr Munro and his family, including his bed-ridden grandfather, are under siege from around 200 so-called "war veterans" at his property in Nyamandhlovu.

The black incarceration rate is overwhelmingly a function of black crime. Insisting otherwise only worsens black alienation and further defers a real solution to the black crime problem.
Racial activists usually remain silent about that problem. But in 2005, the black homicide rate was more than seven times higher than that of whites and Hispanics combined, according to the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics.

Think about how amazing this is. McCain is essentially saying that our quest to "spread democracy" throughout the Middle East is a sham. It has nothing to do with freeing oppressed people, or protecting Israel, or defending ourselves against future attacks. It's about gaining control of foreign oil. Stunning. "These are being accused of rigging the elections in favour of MDC," Raymond Majongwe, secretary-general of the Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe, said.

Jesse Jackson urges Haiti debt relief

Too scared for school: the plight of Zimbabwe's teachers
