Student Council passed a resolution last night to institute an undergraduate pledge against prejudice.
The legislation is designed to give students a chance [ch8220]to reflect on issues of community diversity and multi-vocality after first-year orientation[ch8221] and recognize [ch8220]the history of institutionalized inequalities at the University.[ch8221]
Law School Rep. Brendan Dignan said releasing names would create what he called a [ch8220]forced message[ch8221] as well as a [ch8220]reciprocal black list[ch8221] in which students who did not sign the pledge might be discriminated against.
