Hello,
Thanks for that website link Mindfrost321.
You’re welcome.
I like your poem dude. Did you write it? I havn't written anything lately but I've written some things in the past.
Yes, I wrote it for this thread. I’d be interested to see your writing. Maybe you can PM
some of it, should it turn up?
I thought you were African-American Adrian. Why are you listening to that type of music and/or genres? Or am I mistaken. I thought you said you were an African-American.
Rock and its offshoots (like metal) were heavily influenced by African-American culture. I haven’t done much research in this area, just picked up a few things in passing from "The Lives of John Lennon" by Albert Goldman.
How far do you want to take the whole cultural purity issue? For example, I just finished reading "Revolutionary Suicide" by Huey P. Newton (founder of the Black Panther Party). Is his writing (which makes several very thoughtful observations about alienation in modern society) devalued by his race? Or should I not read his books because I am white? Should an African-American refrain from listening to music by, say, Mozart or Beethoven? This sort of thinking fails to make sense to me.
Are you, by any chance, the guy who used to post here as “creativeblue” (Blue River Community College, etc.)?
I suggest that you refrain from licking my balls as hard as you do, it makes me uncomfortable...
I am very confused by this statement. Just how am I “licking your balls”?
And I'll rip-off any website I please...Thank you very much...
You are welcome to do so. I’m not stopping you. However, it is helpful to those who might be interested in doing further research into the groups you’ve mentioned when you cite sources.
You have misunderstood my post. I mentioned the matter of the link as an aside, but it wasn’t my main reason for writing in this thread. I wanted (and still want) to learn what positive aesthetic guidelines you might be able come with, that would help us to create music that will endure for a long time (after all the musicians you dislike are forgotten). I agree with you that much of modern music sucks. But, what’s the action item? What positive steps can we take to improve the sorry state of art in the modern time?
Respectfully yours,
