Conspiracy
At times, those who can think outside of the herd-logic tend to look at society and, seeing how it seemingly steers itself at every turn toward destruction, posit that there is some vast conspiracy of evil attempting to destroy civilization. We suggest instead that the greatest evil is passivity, and that this attitude - through passive, utilitarian, and linear methods - is what constitutes the origin of destruction in our society.
While clearly certain groups and ideas work against what is healthy, and could thus, if we continue using the term "evil," be seen as an evil at work in society, they clearly do not have control or things would be worse than they are. It is more accurate to see these evils as error, and to realize that they are what denies reality, and thus sows destruction in neurotic confusion and lack of healthy values, more than a concentrated evil.
We live in the same reality, and it rewards the same behaviors; there is not a single path, but a single pathway, with many paths in it, toward a realistic adaptation of human behavior to reality. Anything that denies this basic truth of existence is fantasy masquerading as reality, and because of that instability, it works harder than anything else to change reality to match its fantasy conception. Because these people exist in the world of their own minds, and periodically face a reality check that is usually destructive to their self-esteem, they are neurotic and greedily assert power wherever they find it in order to bolster their lacking self-esteem.
Human society today is as insane as a group of mice deciding that predators did not exist, and that they would divide up grain and hand it out equally, thus unintentionally breeding a population of mice who do not run from predators nor gain any intelligence or strength on the rest. This is not evil, or a conspiracy: it's a denial of reality brought about by emotional instability. This emotional instability is passivity arising from a lack of a goal; having built civilization, and now enjoying its fruits, people lack the impetus to create newer and more clearly adapted-to-nature versions of this civilization. Thus they focus entirely on internal concerns, such as "progressive" ideas, liberal thought, and self-gratification.
These errors may have been presented to our society, in part, by foreign groups, but their enduring presence is the result of weakness in our society and loss of healthy goals, including at their core the desire to adapt to our natural world and better ourselves internally so that we are stronger, smarter and of higher character. Our own people work against us because they are personally unstable and inwardly depressed, and in denial of reality; this is the only "conspiracy" that exists, although said alien groups may be working to further this decay for their own benefit.
