02/29/2008: "Consumer advocates rarely represent the consumer"
Dan Parsons, president of the BBB, said his agency has been receiving renters' complaints for decades. However, he said, in the past 10 years, his agency has not had much influence with apartment owners and the Houston Apartment Association.
"We used to see them as a very good advocate," Parsons said. "In other words, consumers could go there and have a hearing. These days, they seem to represent the industry more than the renter."
[ Unions, renters advocates, neighborhood associations and other NGOs are mentioned as ways to control capitalism and our rising parasite population. They don't work. ]
