04/05/2008: "Media icon accidentally spits out truth"
Unchecked global warming and an exploding population could result in
cannibalism, controversial U.S. former media mogul Ted Turner says.
If global warming isn't stemmed, "we'll be 8 degrees hotter in 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow," Turner said during PBS' "Charlie Rose."
"Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals," said Turner, 69. "Civilization will have broken down. The few people left will be living in a failed state ... living conditions
will be intolerable."
Population control can help combat global warming he said. People should voluntarily pledge to have only one or two children, the founder of CNN in Atlanta said.
"We're too many people; that's why we have global warming," he said.
[ Refreshing speech from someone high up in the media, but: if you leave it as a "voluntary" pledge then those with the genes for selfless responsibility will be phased out of the population. A eugenic and compulsory policy is the only solution. ]

Gee, did you really need to say the same sentence 9 times? This reminds us of "Hans und Franz" of SNL in the days of yore making fun of Schwarzenegger; "If you don't vant to vork to get the muscles, maybe you should go back to the sewer what you crawled out of." Anyway, we sold the trailor park for a big profit and now we spend all the money on our favorite strippers.

CWTV: Or maybe in the trailer park you crawled out of, too? There's LOTS of places that need a good mass-neutering.

How about massive airborne condom drops over places like India, China, Africa and Central America or wherever else people are multiplying like rats? That may have been what Turner had in mind.

CWTV, your attempt to look smart and oh-so-cynical have had the opposite effect; you've stumbled through my point with all the grace and elegance of a drunk eating his own vomit. The point: to be safe in the long run AND simultaneously rid ourselves of the more IMMEDIATE reprecussions of pollution, waste of resources, overpopulation, and piss-poor mating habits, let's take the same steps we'd take as though it were absolutely proven beyond all doubt. The worst effect of so doing? Makin' baby-Jayzus cry, poo' thang.

Right, I guess all those scientists with their data and analysis are just making it up. LMAO.

Here's an idea. Why not just make "Global Warming" into a religion? It's kind of half way there anyway. That way there's no need to deal with trivialities like physical quantification, cause & effect, etc. Religion never has to deal with facts and that would probably be the best way to get more people to be environmentally conscious.

And yet another pulls up trivialities to hide behind and avoid the truth: we're fucked. Here's an idea: even if it's not as bad as most people say, even if there is NO global warming, why not just be more environmentally-conscious anyway? The immediate effects of overpopulation should be enough on their own.

Turner is a businessman and a salesman; not a scientist. With all the hand wringing we hear every day about "global warming", we'd like to see some numbers. How many trillion tons of carbon does it take to raise the average (and "average is the key concept here)global temperature 1 degree?Forget about 8 degrees; he's pulled that out of his ass. How much additional carbon is mankind actually producing with industrial activity above and beyond what would naturally be produced? We're all exhaling carbon dioxide constantly anyway. Where are the numbers? Turner may be a great salesman, but he's the last source I'd be looking to for any genuine science.
