04/06/2008: "Norway (proportionately) the top of the OECD list of foreign aid givers"
Norway was at the top of the OECD list of foreign aid givers measured by percentage of income, but it didn’t come close to fulfilling its stated goals.
In 2007, foreign aid increased 0.6 percent to USD 3.28 billion, up from USD 2.95bn in 2006, according to new figures released by the OECD.
This puts Norway at the top of the list in terms of brutto national income (BNI) national income, pushing Sweden down a notch from last year’s top spot, and makes Norway the eleventh-largest single contributor among the 22 OECD lands.
[ The Norwegian government still dreams of "wiping out poverty in the world". This thinking only ends up killing all life on Earth. ]
