04/30/2008: "Girls' Mags take on role to educate children on all manner of sexual experimentation"
RIVAL teen magazines Dolly and Girlfriend have joined forces to defend
their sex-related content, saying they are giving readers important
information they want and need.
"Teenagers are always going to be aware and wanting to know more about these issues because that's the time their bodies are changing,'' Dolly editor Gemma Crisp told the Senate committee inquiry into the sexualisation of children in the media.
Tasmanian Senator Stephen Parry said he was concerned readers as young as 11 were writing in for answers to questions on anal and oral sex.
"For Girlfriend it does become really hard because it does depend on when they get their period, when they get their boobs, a lot of it is about their body - that is when they start to seek out this information and that is when we play an important role,'' Ms Sheffield said.
[ They make out they are doing a social favor when really they are corrupting children and laying the foundations to make them into neurotic consumers of fashion, cosmetics, surgery and pornography. ]
