Oprah Winfrey's decision to openly back Barack Obama early in his nomination campaign has cost her dearly with the key demographic whose members made her so
famous: middle aged white women. According to ratings data cited by "Fox and Friends" hostess Gretchen Carlson, the Oprah show is "down seven percent [overall], but down, I believe, twenty-five percent in the key demographic of those young viewers." Steve
Doocy, a co-host, intimated that this was the result of Oprah's support for Obama and news that she also attends Obama's racist black church, Trinity United
Church of Christ in Chicago: "Isn't true if you're in the business of words, as she is, if she takes this stand, she's gonna alienate half the country when she opens her mouth?" Oprah's support for Obama came complete with messianic pangyrics delivered in the kind of threatening ghetto Ebonics slang that makes her white church lady viewers "uncomfortable."

Winfrey, who was clearly an affirmative action beneficiary of the corporate media's desire to put "black faces in high places," has been so successful not because she is a "strong black woman" but because many whites are desperate to find and support non-threatening, "nice" nonwhites who seem to reinforce the media stereotype of multiculturalism as actually workable. Supporting such "Uncle Toms" also allows these whites to relieve a measure of misplaced "white guilt."
