06/11/2008: "UK government insists immigrants are an economic benefit"
LABOUR was accused of being in "absurd" denial last night as it prepares to officially slap down a devastating House of Lords report on the impact of mass immigration.
Liam Byrne, Immigration Minister, will tomorrow claim that the findings of a powerful group of peers were "overspun" from "under-done" analysis.
In April, the House of Lords report ripped to shreds every economic argument the Govern-ment has put forward for its open-door policy and called for an annual cap.
But Mr Byrne will once again insist that immigrants are an economic benefit and will try to shrug off the study, which was compiled by leading economists and two former chancellors.
[ Labour isn't in denial, they know exactly what they are doing. They favor globalization, and so do most of those in the House of Lords. They are playing games to confuse the electorate. ]
