06/18/2008: "Japanese government urges jaw jaw, not war war regarding Iran"
Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda has said it is essential that the sides concerned try to resolve Iran's nuclear issue through diplomacy.
Speaking at a group interview with news agencies of Group of Eight (G8) nations in Tokyo, Fukuda urged the international community to 'talk thoroughly and over and over again' to resolve the longstanding issue of Iran's nuclear program.
Washington and allies have so far imposed three rounds of UN sanction resolutions on Iran, targeting individuals, firms with military links and several banks to force the country to stop its uranium enrichment program.
Iran says it is determined to master nuclear technology for peaceful applications like power generation and will not bow to external pressure on the issue.
[ The Israelis are seriously discussing a military attack on Iran soon. Looks like Japan is not too keen on it. ]
