07/14/2008: "Fine unlikely for man who beheaded Hitler wax figure"
Prosecutors in Germany say it's unlikely the man who tore off the head of an Adolf Hitler wax figure at Madame Tussaud's in Berlin will have to pay any damages because the man is destitute.
"It is not possible to seize anything from anyone with a monthly income of under 985 euros ( $1,580 Cdn)," a spokeswoman for Berlin's Justice Ministry, Katrin-Elena Schoenberg, told Focus magazine.
The 41-year-old former police officer said he did it to win a bet.
[ There's no mention of any other prospective punishment - so all he gets is a pat on the back from the various politicians and so on who praised his action. ]
