07/15/2008: "Saudi offers Russia arms deal to curb Iran ties"

Saudi Arabia has offered to award major arms contracts to Russia in return for Moscow curtailing cooperation with Iran, Russia's Kommersant newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing unidentified diplomatic sources.

The Kremlin declined to comment immediately on the report, as did Saudi Arabia's embassy in Moscow.

Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan met Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow for talks on Monday that focused on widening bilateral cooperation.

"In essence, Russia was offered to become a major partner in the Middle East."

[ Oh no! That is so sneaky. Basically it is a more subtle way for the US to try and bribe Russia not to side with Iran. Let's hope the Russian leadership puts principle above profit - if such a decision really would be more financially profitable. ]

Encircle them with an eye to destroying their sovereignty (Soros-financed "color" revolutions, US/NATO expansion in Eastern Europe and Central Asia) and then try to buy off their leadership. I too, hope that once-great Russia has the sense to say "NO" to the Devil and his pawns.
