04/06/2009: "The US government continues to tell the European Union to accept Turkey"

U.S. President Barack Obama urged the European Union on Sunday to accept Turkey as a full member of the 27-nation bloc, in remarks rejected outright by France and met coolly by Germany.

"The United States and Europe must approach Muslims as our friends, neighbors and partners in fighting injustice, intolerance and violence, forging a relationship based on mutual respect and mutual interests," Obama told the summit.

"Moving forward toward Turkish membership in the EU would be an important signal of your (EU) commitment to this agenda and ensure that we continue to anchor Turkey firmly in Europe," he told EU leaders.

[ The US has long wanted Turkey absorbed into the EU so Obama's remarks are not new. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said he also backed Obama's support for EU membership for Turkey - which goes to show he is no protector of western culture. ]

It doesn't really matter except as window dressing and opening up the door for the rest of the Islamic World to get EU membership, since Europe is already being flooded with 3rd World biological garbage.
